Cauliflower popcorn
How it should look like - Now do it better!
This recipe is completely made up, but it came out quite nice! I got inspired by something I tried in a restaurant in London - panasian cuisine - and I tried to replicate it at home. It didn't come out the same, the texture is very different from what I ate at that restaurant, but the taste is incredibly similar and I love it! These cauliflower florets are addictive.
Ingredients (2 people)#
- Cauliflower (as big or as little as you want)
- White vinegar: 2 tbsp
- Sunflower oil: 2 tsp
- Maple syrup: 2 tbsp
- Soy sauce: 4-5 tbsp
- Oat flakes: 50 gr
Method#
- Cut the cauliflower's florets and put them in a big bowl. The rest of the stem you can keep and make a hummus later, or use it to boil and make a broth, or just steam them and then fry them in a pan, or...throw them away if you have to
- Put all the ingredients in the bowl together with the cauliflower, except for the oat flakes. Mix everything well
- Grind the oat flakes in a blender until it's like dust, and then pour it in the bowl with everything else and mix well
- Get an over tray covered with baking paper, and put the cauliflower florets on it
- Cook in the oven (fan-assisted cooking recommended) at 180 C for 20 mins
- Then enjoy! They should be tender, not crunchy, and with a "sweet and sour" taste
Tips#
You can eat them aside with a protein-based dish, or alternatively, I recommend serving them as a starter or aperitivo.
